Meet the bakers and owners of Sunshine State Sweets

Born and raised in Tampa Bay, they have spent their lives in the Sunshine State and are proud Floridians. Growing up, Jeremy would spend his afternoon’s after school watching Food Network shows and was enamored with all things cooking and baking. Hannah on the other hand was always doing something creative whether it was art of some kind or a project that she would work on with her mom, playing the flute in school, or studying art in school.

In 2008, Jeremy left a 9-5 corporate job in Clearwater on a whim and some nudging from his then girlfriend (now wife) and within two weeks of applying started classes at the culinary school at Le Cordon Bleu College of Culinary Arts in Orlando. After graduating with a degree in Patisserie and Baking, Jeremy began an internship that would turn into a 5 year stint at The Don Cesar Hotel. A great deal was learned here and experiences that he would never have dreamt.

After the Don Cesar, Jeremy left St. Pete Beach and headed to a new and much bigger opportunity where he began the next chapter of his career at the Renaissance Orlando at Sea World. This was a big move for Jeremy and would be his first leadership role in a large scale, up-scale bake shop in the Hospitality capital of the United States and perhaps the world.

Jeremy always knew he wanted to be a teacher, but perhaps later in his career but when the opportunity came up to move back home to the Tampa Bay area to teach Culinary Arts at a High School in Wesley Chapel… he threw caution to the wind (yet again) and went for it! From interviewing for the job with no teaching experience to needing to take state exams for a teacher’s license, two weeks later was his first day on the job with a bunch of high school students, what could go wrong!?

Today, Jeremy is happily married to the love of his life Hannah, who manages our creative and marketing strategies as well as produces and edits all of our YouTube Videos www.youtube.com/thesavorysuitcase, Hannah and Jeremy reside in the Land O’ Lakes area of Pasco County. Hannah and Jeremy work together closely on the sourdough products as well so we really bring many aspects of the business together with our individual and collective talents. Hannah does research and development for new flavors, and Jeremy does the bulk production, its a good balance!
